I took Amtrak from DC to New York. It was sweltering hot as I got out of Penn Station and walked up to the hotel to check in. I was not a first timer here in New York, yet each time I come to this city, I always get excited. Since I had been to Empire State Building before, I went to the top of the Rockefeller Center to see what it would be like. The recently built One World Trade Center could be seen in the distance.

More and more skyscrapers have been built in Manhattan recently, and yet the Empire State Building, I think, remains the most beloved and recognized symbol of New York City. Taking a closer look, I could see the crowds in the observatory deck of the Empire State Building! So many people up there!

View on the west side, the Hudson River, New Jersey and beyond. Looking toward the north side of Manhattan, Central Park, of course.
