I took metro to Alexandria, VA. Before before crossing the Potomac River, the metro started to run above ground. The Washington Monument could been seen from as crossing the river. The fee trolley was waiting for me right in front of the King Street Metro Station to take me to Old Town Alexandria.

The Market Square was quiet with almost no one in sight in broad daylight on the 4th of July perhaps it was too hot outside. I wandered along King Street, Old Town Alexandria's main street, and found antique stores, art galleries, and restaurants.

It was 2:30 already. I hadn't eaten since I had breakfast at Kramers Afterwords Cafe & Grill so kept walking looking for somewhere to eat. On King Street, I saw the sign, "IL PORTO Ristorante," with a fluttering Italian flag, I soon entered this restaurant.

The ambience was very pleasant and cozy. I had the Fettuccine Alfredo which was fantastic!
