Chicago - Architecture

Here is the heart of Chicago's financial district. The Chicago Board of Trade, the world's largest futures and options exchange, is in the back and the Federal Reserve Bank on the right. Taken from Bank of America at La Salle Street.

The James R. Thompson Center has a huge atrium used for various kinds of events. It's worth taking a look inside. I wonder when the name of this building has changed - it used to be called the State of Illinois Building though...

I roamed around the Gold Coast residential area early in the morning. Here is Chicago's one of the most historical areas known as Astor Street District. This house is the oldest in neighborhood - it has many chimneys!

Some of the houses have unique stone texture. As I was walking around this neighborhood, I realized some streets were named after such distinguished German writers as Goethe and Schiller. I imagine that the first settlers of this area were Germans.
