Odyssey in Poland & Fryderyk Chopin
Chicago

The main entrance to Kościół Mariacki, St. Mary's Church is for prayers only. I saw many prayers come and go all the time.   This statuette I found is called a Student. I wonder if this is what a student look like in medieval times.

The last time I was in Krakow back in 2001, I don't think this sculpture was here at the Old town Market Square. It is Eros Bendato, Eros bound, by a Polish artist, Igor Mitoraj. Kids were playing inside of it.   A microcosm of Church of All Saints. It used to stand at the corner of Dominikanska and Grodzka until 1835.

Various kinds of toy dragons were sold as the dragon is the symbol of Krakow.

I was surprised to see that the surroundings of Krakow Central Station had changed a lot since my last vist. Galeria Krakowska is a huge shopping mall connecting directly to the station. As I wandered through this mall, I got lost. I think I like the former Central Station better that was simple and quiet with a good atmosphere.
Anyway, I popped on the train heading for Wrocław.
