From the Augustusplatz, walking towards east for 10 minutes, I finally reached the Schumann-Haus where Robert Schumann and his wife, Clara Wieck lived for the first years of their marriage from 1840 to 1844.   It was in a eerily quiet neighborhood. This house was said to be built in 1838, but nothing much seemed to have changed since then.
 
 

Robert Schumann, one of the greatest composers of the Romantic period, and Clara Wieck who was a virtuoso pianist and composer and married Robert Schumann.

  The sign in the hallway says, "Robert and Clara Schumann lived in this house from 1840 to 1844."
     
 
I made for stairs to the second floor and saw a curator at the reception desk. I was so excited to be there that I couldn't help but ask her to take a photo with a relief of Robert Schumann and Clara that was hung on the wall.   She was kind enough to let me inside the reception desk to take a picture with it!
 
There were family trees for both Robert Schumann and Clara Wieck.
 
 

Clara Wieck was a virtuosic pianist and a great composer, but is better known for being the wife of Robert Schumann. She undoubtedly influenced Robert's works.

Very little is known outside Germany about it, but before Germany adopted the Euro, she was the face of the 100 Deutsche Mark banknote from 1989 to 2002.

Clara's father, Friedrich was a famous piano teacher, and her mother, Mariane was a pianist and singer.

  Robert's father was a bookseller and publisher, and his mother was a poet.
 
 
The Wilhelm Wieck grand piano was exhibited with the dress which Clara wore.   This piano was Clara's father's.

It was not clear what it was, but it was embroidered and was used by Clara.   I immersed myself in there for about an hour and out the street Robert used to walk on...
