On my way back to the hotel from the Berliner Philharmonie, I passed the monument to the Berlin Wall. It was the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

It was so quiet around and I took a close look at the walls of thick cement blocks that had separated the one half of the city of Berlin from the other for 28 years. It was quite unimaginable.

I then came back here again to say goodbye to another historical monument, the Brandenburg Gate.

Not just Germany's but also Europe's symbol of peace and unity looked so stately and majestic against the deep, dark night sky.
