Tuscany, Italy - Day 5: PM
Pienza & Val d'Orcia


Retuned from Montepulciano in the late afternoon, and luckily the English-guided tour for the Palazzo Piccolomini was just about to start. I joined it and the guide took us upstairs and showed us old furniture, paintings, and firearms, etc. Since a blue cross with five crescent moons was a coat of arms of the Piccolomini family, this heraldry could be seen everywhere. A terrace on the second floor has splendid views of the Val d’Orcia.

And in the early evening, I returned to the point where I saw the sun setting over the Val d'Orcia when I managed to get here two days ago. Today, the golden rays of the evening sun were still lingered, shining gold on the Val d'Orcia. There was no word to describe just how beautiful it was.

From my hotel window, it was forever branded on my memory...
