I got a chance to stay in Stamford, Connecticut, USA on business for about two months this summer. It was great to be back to the States!

Stamford, CT
Stamford was a neat town along Connecticut's shoreline. Right in front of Stamford railroad station, there was a huge building of a Swiss financial institution. In this town, I also found some globally renowned companies, a number of major hotels, and such stores as Macy's and Saks. And yet, I found the town rather small and quiet, so I headed for New York City not just on weekends but after work on weekdays. In just 40 minutes or so, express train took me to New York's Grand Central Station.

Grand Central - I used this station many times when I commuted from Stamford, Connecticut where I stayed on business. If you take an express train from Stamford to New York City on New Haven Line of Metro-North Railroad, most of the express trains stop only at Harlem 125th Street on Manhattan. (There are express trains stopping at New Rochelle, etc. depending on days and times.) After Harlem 125th Street, the train goes underground to Grand Central. I felt like I was going into a coal mine as the train nears Grand Central since it was utterly dark with some very small lamps outside the window. The 40-minute travel between Stamford and the City was very fun, though. It was a good reunion with the Grand Central Oyster Bar! :)
